Learn how to play golf. This is FUNNY
that’s a hard shot to do. To make that golf ball pop straight up like that requires a high degree of skill plus a lot of concentration. The ball must be struck very precisely with just the right amount of downward force to compress the ball against the ground without imparting any spin on the ball. I tried to do this trick shot and hurt myself ( I won’t mention where) so do be cautious please.

Ive been going back and forth on this but, he’s right, the hips resist on the back swing and the lower body drives the down swing. I’ve had issues with my upper body controlling the downswing which results in an erratic game on the course although it looks great on the range. working the lower body on the down swing ensure a smooth transition and weight shift.
@tagteamchamp81 people need to understand tiger can win with any swing. any teacher he employs is going to undoubtedly enjoy success.

Best instructor in the world ? I don’t think you can really have number one coach, different players bond & click with different coaches & their teaching philosophies. From the YouTube videos I’ve seen of Hank he sounds a rank amateur compared to some coaches. I’ve know coaches who are god awful and yet have a following of successful players. Those players would also be successful however if Micky mouse was their coach.
@tagteamchamp81 Injuries ruined Tigers wing. He was always to athletic with his motions and suffered many injuries with Harmon so he hoped Haney would give him a smoother swing. Worked for a bit of time but, old habits are hard to break. He puts way to much pressure on his left knew which still bothers him
Asking this question because I honestly do not know the answer. Has Hank Haney ever played on the PGA or won any PGA golf tournaments? I can’t find anything about him doing so. IF he has not why would Tiger or anyone for that matter listen to what he has to say. Is it a matter of I can teach it but I just can’t do it?

@bocephusnation0 Well, lucky for you, he doesnt teach privately. His reason… He said it himself, he doesnt believe a golf lesson should cost over $500/hr since he knows 1 lesson will not have a permanent cure. Series of lessons is what helps a person improve.
Oh and FYI, my lesson with Hank’s instructors are well worth it. They help understand why the ball does what it does and how to control it.
Tiger Woods was basically fired in a way by Hank.
@tagteamchamp81 Hank didnt ruin Tiger. Tiger ruined himself. He went against Haney’s order to stop doing benchpress workouts and body building Tiger lost his sensitivity to his hands and thus became terrible at chips and putts.
Look at the last 2 years tiger was with Hank. He looked like a bodybuilder compared to everyone.
Now, look at him today, lost most of his muscle mass. Tiger probably realized it.
Hank Haney has got to be the best instructor in the world hands down.

After close to 50 years of teaching golf as a PGA professional I’m confident of one thing: there are a lot of ways to swing at the golf ball. If you don’t believe me look at the varied golf swings of players in the Hall of Fame. Here’s hoping you find something that works for you, have confidence in it, and practice it religiously. And when you think “I’ve got it!”, remember that you’ve only borrowed “it” for awhile.
